Southeast New Mexico College has been added as a participating higher education institution for the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) initiative, “Advancing a Bilingual and Indigenous Early Childhood Workforce,” funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

Eligible students enrolled in Early Childhood Education associate degree programs may apply for a one-time $1,500 stipend for Spring 2026. The stipend is intended to support students pursuing careers in early childhood education, particularly those who are bilingual, multilingual, or connected to Indigenous communities. Funds may be used to help offset educational and living expenses while students’ complete coursework and field experiences.

This opportunity provides direct financial support to ECE students, strengthens the early childhood education workforce in New Mexico, and supports equity, bilingualism, and indigenous representation in early learning settings.
