Southeast New Mexico College Invites the Community to an Open House and Parking Lot Party

(CARLSBAD, NM) Southeast New Mexico College (SENMC) invites the community to attend an Open House and Parking Lot Party to celebrate the upcoming fall semester and the grand opening of the brand-new state of the art solar covered parking on campus. The event will be held on August 19, 2024, from 5 PM- 7 PM in the front parking lot and the gym at 1500 University Drive, Carlsbad, NM.

During the event, there will be food, games, prizes, and an opportunity to register for classes and schedule advising appointments for the fall semester that will be starting on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.  Potential students and their families can meet with faculty and staff from departments on campus to learn more about the variety of programs available to help students to reach their career goals.

Community members will also have a chance to meet our special guest, Eddy the Mountain Lion, SENMC’s mascot, at the Open House event. 

Dr. Kevin Beardmore, President at Southeast New Mexico College said “Not only can visitors park close to the front entrance now, but they can enjoy the shade!   This is only the beginning, as we have more solar covered parking to come.  Once the project is complete, ninety-three percent of the electricity needs of campus will be provided by solar power.  Everyone is welcome to stop by, enjoy the free food, and learn more about all that SENMC has to offer.”
