Career and Transfer Fair 2023

Career and Transfer Fair

Southeast New Mexico College is hosting its annual Career and Transfer Fair on April 19th, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. The college will have over fifteen different organizations and institutions attending with a variety of internship, career, and employment opportunities available. Students will have a chance to ask questions and interact with employees from different career fields. Higher education institutions will be there with tips for students including how to apply for FAFSA, and how to pursue higher education on a budget. Erick Dominguez, the transfer specialist for the SENMC Grants Department stated that he was hoping that through this event, students would be more encouraged to, “transfer to a four-year institution after attending SENMC.” Dominguez continued, that there are two things he hopes they get out of this event. “The first is that they transfer over to a four-year institution after attending SENMCand get financial advice, tips on how to fill out FAFSA, and more information related to scholarships. The second part will be for students to find internships and career opportunities in local institutions, and local agencies so that they can start their own careers.”

As a transfer specialist, Erick Dominguez stated that he is passionate about putting together projects and events such as the Transfer and Career Day. Dominguez says “The main reason is that I want to show our community, our students, that there are multiple opportunities for everyone, multiple options for people of different backgrounds. This way everybody has an opportunity to start their own career pathway. I want to show our community and motivate our students as well so that they can have their own career pathways and follow those pathways. I want to show the community that we have a lot of resources available for them. There are multiple companies, multiple institutions, multiple universities that can help them start their careers.”
