Gina Zuniga, MSN, RN

Gina Zuniga is the Professor of Nursing and is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) under the Nursing Department and has been with NMSUC/SENMC since 2006. She is originally from Carlsbad, New Mexico, and graduated as a Registered Nurse, with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from NMSU. She continued in her education and received her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from UNM in 2007.

Prior to working at the college, she was the Director of Nurses for the ICU at the local hospital here in Carlsbad. She has been a nurse since 1993 with a background in Medical Surgical, home health, and Intensive Care nursing. Currently, Professor Zuniga teaches 2nd year nursing students in medical surgical nursing, mental health and management. She also is involved in several committees including the persistence and completion committee.

Professor Zuniga is a massive contributor to the nursing program at SENMC. She frequently advises her students that, they are, ‘not studying to simply pass an exam, they are studying for the day when they are the only thing between the patient and the grave.’
