Jon M. Strahan

Jon Strahan is an Associate Professor of Business in the department of Business, Computer Information Technology and Manufacturing. Professor Strahan is originally from Wyoming and has been with NMSUC/SENMC since 2006. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1982. Then continued his education to receive a Master of Science in Accounting/Taxation. He earned his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certificate and has over three decades experience as a CPA, including working for some of the largest accounting firms and having his own practice. He has consulted hundreds of businesses. He started teaching in 1989, teaching full time since 2000 and loves helping his students succeed.

Mr. Strahan is our business faculty. He has taught all accounting courses, including Survey to Accounting, Principles of Financial Accounting and Principles of Managerial Accounting. He also teaches Principles of Macro and Micro Economics, Introduction to Management and Introduction to Business, just to name a few of the business courses he has taught.

Presently in my seventeenth year of teaching business courses at Southeast New Mexico College/New Mexico State Carlsbad. Previously taught at the University of Wyoming, Arizona State University, Texas Tech. University, and several community colleges. I am currently the Department Chair of the Business and Information Technology Department.  

Certified Public Accountant for 30 years with experience working at many accounting firms, including my own accounting practice.

Mr. Strahan is a dedicated professor and always strives to make sure he provides his students with a quality education. He frequently advises them that, ‘learning is a process of making mistakes successes.'
