Jeannie Nichols is a Student Program Coordinator in the Financial Aid Office. She is originally from Carlsbad and has been with NMSUC/SENMC since 2006. She oversees Veteran’s Affairs programs which provide educational benefits for veterans. These programs include but are not limited to the Post 9/11 GI Bill®, Dependent’s Educational Assistance (DEA) Program, Montgomery GI Bill® Active Duty, and Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E). She also oversees all scholarships that come into the campus, including those from the state, outside donors, and foundational endowments.
Currently, Jeannie is part of several committees on campus including the Board of Trustees College and Community Committee, the Persistence and Completion Committee, the campus Relay for Life Co-Chair, the Policy Committee, the Strategic Planning Committee, and the Classified Staff Committee. In the community, she is involved with the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce 40 under 40 Committee, the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, Leadership Eddy County, and the Carlsbad Community Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee (advisory role).
Her achievements during her time here include a 4-time NMSUC/SENMC Employee of the Month, 2017 Non-Exempt Employee of the Year, Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce 40 under 40 Recipient - Class of 2016, and Leadership Eddy County Graduate - Class of 2019.
Jeannie works very hard and diligently to assist students with their academic needs to help them succeed in their future endeavors.
