David McIntosh

Dr. David McIntosh is an Assistant Professor of history and anthropology in the Department of Social Sciences. He is originally from Ohio and has been with SENMC since 2022. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Miami University in anthropology. Then proceeded to receive two master’s degrees, the first from the City University of New York in anthropology, and the second from NMSU – Las Cruces in history, with a graduate minor in archaeology. In 2022, he graduated from the University of Santa Barbara with a Ph.D. in history. During his time in California, he taught courses in various areas, including, history, academic writing, and Chicano studies.

With his strong IT background, Dr. McIntosh is excited to be part of the Distance Learning Advisory Committee and the Facilities & Instructional Operations Committee. Within the community, he hopes to work with the Carlsbad Museum, and also volunteer at the Carlsbad Boys and Girls Club.

Dr. McIntosh has much to offer the college and is looking forward to teaching here, with his experience, he hopes to bring a new dynamic to the classroom. His favorite motivational quote is from the Cookie Monster who posted to Twitter in 2021 is, “Me no cry because cookie is finished. Me smile because cookie happened.”
