Sandra Florez

Sandra I. Florez, PPOTD, MOT, OTR/L is the Allied Health Department Chair and Assistant Professor of the Certified Nursing Assistant program at SENMC. She is a retired occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience in the field.   Dr. Florez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and a Master of Occupational Therapy from the University of New Mexico. She completed her post-professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy at Texas Tech University Health Sciences.

Dr. Florez has been published in the American Journal of Occupational Therapy. Currently, she is working on expanding her PPOTD Capstone, “Medication Management Treatment Manual: Guidelines to Improving Knowledge in Medication Management for Occupational Therapists,” into a continuing education course.

Inspired by Patrick Lencioni, Dr. Florez is motivated by the philosophy of doing work that brings joy and energy.”  She finds fulfillment in serving SENMC and Carlsbad.
