Your future in nursing starts here.
At Southeast New Mexico College, our Nursing program offers a dynamic, hands-on education that prepares you to become a licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). A top ranked program in the state of New Mexico that is rooted in the values of compassionate care and clinical excellence, our program equips you with the skills to serve diverse communities across New Mexico and beyond.
Our program is a career ladder program. We do not have a separate LPN program from the ADN program. All students start out with the same criteria to enter (GPA, pre/co requisites, & entrance exam) and the same classes for the first two semesters. For the certificate in Practical Nursing, the student will take NURS 1146, Common Health Deviations in the summer semester; then, students can choose to exit the program early with the ability to sit for the LPN NCLEX and obtain an LPN license or choose to stay in the program for an additional two semesters to complete the Associate degree program.
